This beautifully hand stitched and indigo dyed painting is made with black walnut ink that I hand foraged and made. The “canvas” is cotton that has been dyed in an indigo vat and hand stitched together. It is stretched over a custom made wooden panel.

This portrait is of my friend Scotlyn, who is inspiring to me because of her authenticity. She became a mother soon after this portrait was made and is building her own beautiful homestead with her partner is the countryside of Western North Carolina.

Both indigo and black walnut ink are strong dyes that have withstood the test of time for their lightfastness.
