Stillness

$1,200.00

Black walnut ink on goldenrod dyed cotton fabric with hand stitched applique.

This painting is currently in the Bloom Gallery in Thomas, West Virginia.

30.5”x 41.5”

This painting is painted on 100% cotton hand dyed with goldenrod that I foraged myself from the Appalachian mountains. I used river water and black walnut ink and hand stitched the subtle design into the fabric. I found this design in a photograph of an old antique carved wooden chair. I thought it was so beautiful. It struck me and I had to incorporate it into my paintings. This painting is of my friend Becca, who is such a beautiful human. She inspires me daily. She loves adventure and thrives in the wild. She has one of the greatest imaginations of anyone I’ve ever known and sees the aliveness of this world in places where most don’t. I have this memory of her standing still, looking out over the water and me watching in awe as I witnessed in her a kind of stillness that I long for.
