I heard the crows calling: Defense against the dark arts
I heard the crows calling: Defense against the dark arts
This 8.5” x 11” print is made on high quality archival paper with the help of Asheville Fine Art Printing company.
I made this painting in my sketchbook with watercolors and chalk pastels. In January, the crows fly around my house and their calls are haunting and beautiful. They feel like coming home. There is something so peaceful about them. I love painting portraits and I started out this painting with a portrait of my friend Hannah. She’s looking out over the landscape. Something about this scene feels still and meditative to me.
A lot is going on in the world right now. All of us our feeling it. Over the winter, I re-listened to the Harry Potter series on audio and it struck me how very wise Severus Snape is as he talks about the dark arts. We also need to learn defense against the dark arts in this world. It takes a wise soul to see through the many many lies we are presented with on a daily basis. May this print be a reminder to stay wise, stay kind, and keep your patronus charm at the ready.
